It's Astounding

Time is fleeting. And I'm pretty sure madness is taking its toll.

I'm now officially closer to 30 than I am to 20, which is a somewhat disconcerting thought. Being 20 was relatively straightforward—just keep going to college—but I don't have the slightest idea what I'm supposed to be doing when I turn 30. “In my early 20's” was a nice category to be in for figuring out life, but I don't think I can still be in my early 20's at 26.

But on the other hand, I have a job I like and am very happily married, and those seem like good qualifications for being post-early-20's. And I have four more years to figure out this whole 30 thing.

Other's Thoughts

From the mind of Mum - Wed, Jan 17, 2007

Only yesterday you were a tiny person with butter head hair who arrived at pre-school to a greeting of "STUART is here!!" A four year old person who loved super-hero type cartoons until you realized that the good guys always won, but not in real life. A boy who came to appreciate people for their differences. One who liked French adults better than French kids. A young man who walked through our home, up and down stairs, with a book growing out of his hand, 6" from his eyes. An adventurer who flew alone to the Midwest with nowhere to stay for the night, who believed his parents when they said it would all work out, and it did, mostly. A young man who watched others' stories go slightly or completely awry—so when he gave his heart to a young woman, he wrapped her in his dream of the future. A maturing adult who reshapes his dreams with practicality and optimism. Who says he is happy, without shadows lurking behind his eyes.
May you always be able to look ahead to contentment and possibility.
Cheers little one, you've done well on the first leg.
