Language Quiz Of The Day

This one requires that you answer in the comments, so don't be shy! Here's the quiz: define the words “biannually” and “bimonthly”. No cheating by looking it up! Answer based on your current knowledge only.

I have to try this one. Biannually means every other year? Bimonthly means twice a month? Miss you guys!

I think I agree with Mom. What about biweekly? That's every other week, right?
(Now Pride and Prejudice has superimposed itself on my comment box. Don't you wish I'd shut up and quit complaining???)

Everybody wins!

It's a breath mint *and* a candy mint! Biannually means every two years (biennially) or twice a year (semiannually), bimonthly means every two months (bimestrially) or twice a month (semimonthly), and biweekly (since you asked, Ru) means every two weeks (fortnightly) or twice a week (semiweekly).

Some sources restrict some words to one or the other meaning, but in general all the meanings seem to be valid. In short, they aren't very useful words!

Ugh! I never knew all that. In fact, I'm sure people have lectured me at length on THEIR interpretations of these words. But I'm glad to know I can say whatever I want. P.S. Footnotes! Footnotes!
